In the EuG seminar, Building 1:1 with AR, we experimented, using augmented reality, and Hololens 2, to visualize essential information from the digital 3D Rhino model into the physical context of the site (and onto individual parts) during the process of building a complex timber tower with students.
We are exploring the idea that AR or MR can be seen as a double medium in architectural representation, especially where human interaction and collaboration are concerned.
On one hand it can be used as a medium to translate architectural design and space into the physical realm of human experience
And on the other hand it is also a medium used between different actors in the design and making process. A feedback system between designer, user, craftsperson, fabricator, or even machines.
